Ukrainian Cereals in Global Food Security: Production and Export Components

Abstract

The world economic agenda motivates further studies to meet the contemporary challenges on providing the global food security, especially by cereals and the most demanded crop like wheat. For such purpose the presented research dealt with improving the production and export components in Ukrainian grain segment. The exploration methodology involved the ABC-XYZ analysis and econometric approach. The conducted ABC-XYZ analysis specified a regional distribution of the national producers by their harvest contribution to growing grain crops. The created econometric models discovered upward progress in volumes, values as well as shares of Ukrainian cereals exports to Europe, Asia and Africa for 2006-2018. Світові виклики мотивують подальші дослідження глобальної продовольчої безпеки, особливо зернових і найбільш питомої пшениці. Тому дане дослідження сфокусоване на виробництві та експорті зернових України. Методологія дослідження включала ABC-XYZ аналіз та економетричний підхід. ABC-XYZ аналіз визначив регіональні внески у вирощування зернових культур. Економетричні моделі обґрунтували тренди до зростання обсягів експорту зернових України до Європи, Азії та Африки за період 2006-2018 років.
