Technological features of rearing dairy and beef calves in a Prydniprovya farming enterprise

Abstract

The technological aspects of rearing young cattle of dairy and beef productivity types in the Prydniprovya region are researched, using the "Maksym B" farm in the Dnipropetrovsk region as a case study. The dynamics of live weight, average daily gains, and the specifics of diet formulation for young stock are analyzed. Particular attention is paid to the rearing technology of Ukrainian Red Dairy calves, specifically the phasing of feeding, where strict rationing of whole and skimmed milk combined with early training to concentrates ensures intensive development of ruminal digestion. It was established that this model allows replacement heifers to reach a live weight of 370–385 kg at 18 months of age without the risk of obesity. Concurrently, the effectiveness of the suckling system for the beef type (Aberdeen Angus breed) was proven, providing average daily gains of 850–1000 g. The research results confirm that the combination of balanced feeding based on home-grown fodder and differentiated housing systems minimizes technological stress and facilitates the realization of the genetic potential of animals of both directions. Досліджено технологічні аспекти вирощування молодняку великої рогатої худоби молочного та м’ясного напрямів продуктивності в умовах Придніпров’я на прикладі ФГ «Максим Б» Дніпропетровської області. Проаналізовано динаміку живої маси, середньодобових приростів та особливості формування раціонів для молодняку. Особливу увагу приділено технології вирощування телят української червоної молочної породи, зокрема фазності годівлі, де суворе нормування цільного і знятого молока та раннє привчання до концентратів забезпечує інтенсивне становлення рубцевого травлення. Встановлено, що така модель дозволяє ремонтним телицям досягати 370–385 кг у 18-місячному віці без ризику ожиріння. Паралельно доведено ефективність підсисної системи для м’ясного напряму (абердин-ангуська порода), що забезпечує середньодобові прирости на рівні 850–1000 г. Результати дослідження підтверджують, що поєднання збалансованої годівлі на основі власних кормів та диференційованих систем утримання мінімізує технологічні стреси та сприяє реалізації генетичного потенціалу тварин обох напрямів.
